EMO 2025 Grinding Technology Preview

One Group, Multiple Innovations

EMO 2025, the world’s leading trade show for manufacturing technology, is approaching fast. The UNITED MACHINING SOLUTIONS booth will be representing our 15 brands, and world-first grinding innovations are being highlighted at the show on September 22-26 in Hannover, Germany.

In Booth E45, Hall 11, new technology for tool machining, measurement and grinding are being unveiled under the WALTER Maschinebau GmbH and STUDER brands of the UNITED GRINDING division.

Drum Roll Please … New WALTER Grinding Technology

It’s exciting for visitors to experience all the latest machines and technology in one booth (square footage of booth?) at EMO 2025! Attendees are surrounded by new innovations and a knowledgeable team to answer questions about each new machine.

The following new WALTER machines will be on display:

  • HELITRONIC RAPID: This entry-level machine is for producing and regrinding rotationally symmetrical tools with small and medium diameters in a single setup. It offers machining of HSS, carbide, cermet and ceramics, an optional top loader for automated loading and an optional torque motor on the A axis.

  • HELITRONIC MINI PLUS with laser contour check option: This flexible and configurable grinding machine is suited for small and medium diameters.

  • HELITRONIC RAPTOR DIAMOND: With the new Fire Stop & Go function, this tool erosion and grinding machine improves safety and reduces downtime, including fewer carbon dioxide cylinder changes. It immediately shuts down the cause of the fire before activation of the extinguishing system. In the event of deflagration, the function enables automatic analysis and continuation of the process. Fire Stop & Go is a standard feature in all new Walter two-in-one EDM machines and can be retrofitted on existing machines as well.

  • VISION LASER with Robot Loader 25: This high precision laser machine is designed for brazed diamond tools, enabling machining of PCD tools at up to twice the speed of wire EDM. It also offers complex 3D geometries in a single setup, high surface quality and no consumables. Operation is intuitive, sustainable and future-proof with the system’s C.O.R.E. panel with GTR ProfDia laser software.

  • Automated Tool Production (ATP): Presented with the HELITRONIC VISION 400 L, the automation system for complete tool production includes ATP ROBOCELL for loading and unloading as well as the ATP AMR, a mobile transport robot for workpiece logistics. The system delivers complete closed-loop processes from machining to measuring. ATP requires no additional floor space and can be seamlessly integrated into existing production layouts.

  • HELICHECK PLUS: The universally used measuring machine is for both micro-tools and standard tools.

  • HELICHECK NANO: As the world’s first high precision measuring machine for micro and nano tools, this machine offers two high resolution cameras (up to 400× magnification), newly developed hydro-expension system for maximum concentricity, fully automated measuring sequences with C.O.R.E. integration and OPC UA interface for smart manufacturing.

WALTER’s customer care area and a HELITRONIC TOOL STUDIO software counter that offers software demonstrations also comprise the booth.

Cylindrical Grinding On Display

EMO 2025 visitors have the opportunity to attend the unveiling of a new universal cylindrical grinding machine from STUDER on the morning of Sept. 22. Look for more information about this new technology soon.

Other STUDER machines on display include the S31 with insertLoad, the versatile grinder for big tasks; the S41, the all-rounder for complex grinding tasks; the favoritCNC, an affordable universal grinding machine; and the S131 Radius, the internal and radius cylindrical grinding machine especially for grinding complex workpieces from very hard material.

New Name, New Game

Exhibiting at EMO Hannover 2025 provides UNITED GRINDING with the opportunity to not only showcase its latest in advanced technologies, but also to debut as a new brand in the global market. In July, the UNITED GRINDING Group acquired the GF Machining Solutions Division of Georg Fischer AG. The new group operates under the name UNITED MACHINING SOLUTIONS and, with total sales of over USD 1.5 billion, has become one of the largest machine tool manufacturers in the world.

The group is organized into two divisions: UNITED GRINDING and UNITED MACHINING. UNITED GRINDING includes the brands MÄGERLE, BLOHM, JUNG, STUDER, SCHAUDT, MIKROSA, WALTER, EWAG and IRPD. Its technologies include surface and profile grinding machines, cylindrical grinding machines, machines for tool machining and machine tools for additive manufacturing. The UNITED MACHINING division includes the brands AGIE CHARMILLES, CHARMILLES, MIKRON MILL, LIECHTI, STEP TEC and SYSTEM 3R. It includes machines for EDM, high-speed milling and laser technology, as well as spindle production and automation solutions.
